Chief Operating Officer

The COO is a seasoned, trustworthy and practical leader with
strong tactical skills who will provide strategic operations
management and leadership in the daily management of First
Place’s operations. The COO works closely with the CEO and
Leadership Team to effectively leverage resources, managing a
multimillion-dollar annual budget, and ensure that First Place’s
practices safeguard the financial health of the organization and
build capacity to accomplish First Place’s mission in new and
creative ways.
As a member of the Executive Team under the direction of the
CEO, the COO will play an important role in setting the agency’s
strategic direction, developing contracts, projections, reports and
relationships that allow First Place to take advantage of
opportunities for expansion of First Place’s services.
The  COO  reports  to  the  Chief  Executive  Officer  and  directly
supervises all Finance and Administration staff and the Director of
Contracts  and  Partnerships.   This  position  requires  someone
whose  passion  for  First  Place’s  vision  is  matched  with  seasoned
administrative  leadership,  crisp  decision  making  in  the  face  of
complex  challenges,  and  a  proven  track  record  of  excellent
resource management.

Housing Manager - Oakland Headquarters

The Housing Manager is an energetic, collaborative and results-oriented leader who will oversee all agency housing resources and will be responsible for identifying, securing and maintaining affordable rental properties in the Alameda, San Francisco, Contra Costa and Solano Counties in order to provide a supported housing program for 18-24-year-old transition-age foster youth. The Housing Manager is responsible for interfacing with landlords, property management companies and affordable housing entities to secure the best possible apartments for youth accessing First Place’s housing program.The Housing Manager reports to the Director of Programs and supervises a small Housing Team. This position requires an experienced professional whose passion for First Place’s vision is matched with strong relational skills, sound judgment in the face of complex challenges, and a proven track record of effective property management.

Housing Specialist - Contra Costa and Solano Counties

 

The Housing Specialist is an energetic professional who enjoys working with youth. The selected candidate will work closely with the County Manager to maintain the apartments of youth living throughout the community. The Specialist will oversee all daily property management functions, which includes meeting new tenants on their first day to perform a walk-through of their new apartment, and conducting check-outs when youth exit program. The Specialist is also responsible for corresponding with youth to address landlord/tenant issues, complete maintenance requests and deliver failure to pay and/or pay-or-quit notices.

Youth Advocate - Alameda County

 

The Youth Advocate provides comprehensive case management to youth living in the supported housing program, My First Place. The Advocate and client work in partnership to identify and attain goals in the areas of employment and education, self-sufficiency skills, health and wellness, relationships, professionalism and personal advocacy. The position requires carrying a caseload of, on average 15 young adults, and work within a team that fosters positive transitions and impactful outcomes for participants. Advocates will spend most of their time out in the field, meeting youth in their apartments, on the job, or out in the community.

Accounts Payable Specialist - Oakland Headquarters

 

The Accounts Payable Specialist will work closely with the Senior Accountant in managing the accounting operations of the organization. Responsibilities include accounts payable, general ledger and financial reporting in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Daily activities include processing bills and managing customers/vendors. Other activities include billing youth for rent/loans and vendors. Additional responsibilities include performing month-end closings.
