Thanks to our friends and supporters for attending the grand opening celebration of our new First Steps Community Resource Center. This Center will provide a stronger safety net for young people in transition from foster care to successful adulthood.
Sal, who spoke at the event, told us about the challenges he faced due to a lack of parental guidance and support. Despite a life of adversity and struggle, Sal beamed when he shared that he had just moved into his own apartment and that First Place had become the family he always wanted.
His story reminds us what a critical role First Place plays in the lives of young people. And now, with the new First Steps Community Resource Center, we will be able to reach even more vulnerable youth.
First Steps provides housing resources and referrals, employment and academic guidance, parenting resources, workshops and crisis support for transition aged youth in the Bay Area. The bright, beautiful new Center will serve more than 600 youth each year.
Thanks to our friends and supporters who made this new space a reality for our youth!
